Due to the nature of Web based Mapping software, many temporary files are created when viewing maps. These files quickly eat up a large amount of storage and are never deleted.
Once a week, temporary files are deleted.
What files are affected by this process?
- Anything in a directory (including sub directories) ending with the letters tmp are deleted, the directory itself will remain.
What can I do to protect my temporary files?
- Use a tilecache if possible
- Name the folder temp instead of tmp, ms_tmp...
- Please note that all files within your account are used to calculate your quota. If you choose to manage your temporary files yourself, you will also need to keep an eye on your space quotas.
